The Dirties!
|
Perfoming a passionate blend of swamp-funk blues, The Dirties are a tenacious trio of standout musicians asserting their presence in the Capital Region. Led by bassist/vocalist Tim Castellani, the group strives to bring intensity to each note and phrase. Castellani has performed with many successful collaborations and is now letting his own songs come forward. Jody Mills provides guitar ripped from the gut, and Mark Hollis propels the group with determined precision. With their unique sound and intriguing lyrics, The Dirties create music which resonates with listeners long after the last chord is struck. In a recent interview withThe Capital Flip, Castellani describes the group's music as having a "real..energy and crunch to it" with "a little bit of... twang." Lyrically, listeners will hear that the songs of The Dirties tell stories of the strange journey of life. Their lyrics reveal the places and people encountered on this journey in a way this is both fresh and inviting. As Mills stated in the aforementioned interview, "The music travels... it takes you through different moods." The performers are known for dynamic live performances. Now, as The Dirties they are making their way through the local music scene with aspirations of reaching a more global audience. The group is set to record this month, and expects to commence their full-length recording session in the fall. The Dirties' upcoming performances include sets at Troy's Annual River Street Festival on June 20th, and at Albany's Capital Underground Live at Savannah's on July 15th. Don't miiss your chance to enjoy the original sounds and captivating performances of one of the area's most promising up and coming bands!- Andrea Timpano, Editorial Intern Status Hat Productions - June, 2009 |
